Toms x Disney
Toms has released a Cinderella and Sleepy Beauty line and to complete the collaboration Snow White is being released this month! Get ready for August 23rd to get your adorable Snow White shoes! The best part of this collaboration is that they used production art to make these prints. They are just too cute!

Typo Celebrates Snow White's 80th
I went in my first Typo store in the Spectrum Center in Irvine, California and I fell in love! At the time, they had an adorable Mickey Mouse line and the To-Do list pad I bought is still a staple at work for me.
I was thrilled to get an email announcing that Typo is releasing another Disney line - featuring Snow White! Check out my favorite items but be sure to check out the whole line!

Dark Fairy Tale
There have been so many designers who have teamed up with Disney in the last few years. Coach has done a few Mickey and Minnie themed lines and has now released a line called "A Dark Fairy Tale." The line features iconic images from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs like the posion apple:

However the line also features a less iconic imagine: what Coach is calling "Spooky Eyes." These eyes show up as Snow White is fleeing from the forest.

It turns out that these eyes are really just the forest animals checking out the frightened Snow White, but they sure do look spooky!
The line also features this image:

The crow ends up falling into the skull after being frightened in the Queen's dungeon:

Check out the collection here.

Wonderground Gallery
Wonderground Gallery in Downtown Disney is one of my favorite places. On a recent visit I picked up a few postcards that I just fell in love with:
Both postcards retail for $4.99

Disney Dress Shop
I was this article on the Disney Parks Blog and I am so excited! I love vintage dresses and I can't wait to get my hands on this Snow White dress:
I will be heading to Downtown Disney to try and score on of these dresses. Anyone else excited by all these exclusive and themed merchandise items? I love so many of them, but it's hard to keep up!

Box Lunch Gifts
I recently saw a photo of some Snow White pins on Instagram and had to find where they came from. Come to find out they are from Box Lunch and there was a shop in a city nearby, so off I went.
The store has an mission as seen below from their website:
BoxLunch is a civic-minded web + brick and mortar based specialty retailer offering a curated collection of licensed and non-licensed merchandise. With every $10 spent on our pop culture-themed product offering of apparel, accessories, home goods, gift and novelty, and collectibles, BoxLunch will help provide a meal secured by Feeding America® on behalf of local member food banks. Visit here for more information.
I am a bad blogger and didn't take any pictures. I was so excited I forgot! But for those who don't have one near, they do have a website too.
I love this Art Nouvea shirt
I almost bought this Tank Top, but it is a 'muscle' tank with huge arm holes.
Sadly, I don't see the pin set online and they were out of stock in store. If you find one, let me know!

Hallmark Items
It was my birthday last month and my dad found me the perfect card!
I went to Hallmark to find another, but I didn't find the card in my Hallmark. I did find these mugs though.
I really like the Disney Line that Hallmark has. I hope to see more Snow White and Dwarfs!

I Love Reading Blogs!
I've been using Feedly for a long time now. I love using this reader to keep all my blog articles in one spot and fit in my nightly reading. This way I can read hundreds of blogs all at once!
Here is the list of the blogs and feeds that I have in my account. Many of these sites do not post often and some of these sites may be inactive now. The one downside to reading blogs in a reader is certain blog sites block the entire article so the only way to read the complete article is to go to the site itself - but with this many sites, there is no way I'm going to all of these sites every day!

Essentiel Clothing
The other night I was catching up on my blog reading when I came across an article on Disney Style. It showed a line of clothing featuring Bashful! How unusual! I had to find out more...
Essentiel Antwerp is a Belgium company that started designing and selling T-shirts. After a year, they moved into a store in Antwerp. It was four years later that they began the Essentiel ready-to-wear line and it has grown from there!
The Essentiel and Disney collaboration has nine different clothing items, all featuring Bashful, and a nice big bag! Check them out:
I really love that the items feature Bashful, but I'm not sure I understand why they used the phrase "Begin thy magic spell" with him. Do you?

Disney World Planning Binder
I wanted to share some follow up information to last week's post about planning a Disney World trip. In order to keep everything for our up-coming trip straight, I put together a planning binder.
I got the idea for this binder and lots of resources from WDW Prep School's planning binder (be aware - it is an older post and some of the resources may have newer information). Here are some additional resources I used:
Kenny The Pirates idea for character interactions
Press Coins list of pressed penny machines
Disney Dining Plan Snack Credit List
Packing List
Magic Kingdom Bingo Card
Disney Food Blog Bingo Card
Almost 130 Free Walt Disney World Resort Activities
Walt Disney World Height Chart
Movies to watch before your trip
Unofficial Attraction List
Fill in your own planning pages
World showcase Passport
Printable Planning Pages
If you are a more visual kind of person - I have a pinterest board just for Disney Planning Binders - Follow away!
I also used the book - From Screen to Theme to create a list of all the Snow White references around the World - minus the New Fantasyland changes. I hope, after my trip, to have a more comprehensive list. Look for posts and a list later this year.
I used some leftover scrapbook paper and stickers to make my cover. |
I got a pencil pouch to hold my Disney world planning DVD and some pens. The pocket is holding the personalized maps I ordered and I put a scrapbook sticker along the top of the pocket. |
I used scrapbook paper and sticky notes to make my tabs - Itinerary, Schedules, Resort, Packing Lists, Dinning Plan, Snow White, Characters, Misc, and then one for each day of our trip. |

Pocket Princess
I don't know about you, but I have way to many blogs coming into my Feedly account...and I just keep adding more. Recently I bumped into work by Amy Mebberson. She has done art for Disney and several of her prints were available in parks. I fell in love with her pocket princess series. They are cute and funny takes on what life would be like if all the Disney Princesses were roommates. Check it out.

Jiminy Crickets!
When we Disney fans hear this we think of that little green guy that helped Pinocchio find his way. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released before Pinocchio and Doc utters the phrase "Jiminy Crickets!" In fact, Dorothy in Wizard of Oz and Mickey in Brave Little Taylor both used this expression too. So where did this come from? Dave Smith addressed this in his ask Dave column on the D23 website:

Dave Smith: The slang expression, Jiminy Cricket, existed long before it became the name of the cricket in Pinocchio. According to the Partridge Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English: "Jiminy Cricket! used as a mild expletive. Extended from obsolete 'jiminy!'; 'gemini!', etc., which may derive from Jesu domine; modern use is probably intended to be a euphemism for JESUS CHRIST! US, 1848." Since the character was a cricket and needed a name, it is likely that some story man (or perhaps even Walt himself) suggested using Jiminy as his first name since it was a common expression (as opposed to using the more typical alliteration in naming animated characters and calling him Charlie Cricket or something with a C).

Disney, Railroads, and My Dad
Over the years my dad has attended various Disney events with me. He is always a great sport and says he enjoys learning about things even though he isn't the Disney fanatic I am. In fact, he took me to a Disneyana Connvention back in the day, that was just amazing! Well this past week he was in Sacramento for the National Conventions of the National Model Railroad Association and sent me a very excited text because he was in a clinic that was all about Disney!
I think I would have enjoyed this particular talk given by imagineers John and Katie Olson. The Olsons talked about their work in Paris working on Big Thunder and how the union rules are different so John was able to hire sculptors along with the contractors. (John works with the contractors to bring the imagineers vision to life). They also talked about their work on Radiator Springs and current work in Shanghai. Below is the clinic description:
Disney Railroading | Thursday July 7 | 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM |
John & Katie Olson | Convention Center 310 | |
John Olson was recruited by Walt Disney Imagineering in 1974 when Mike O'Connell (owner of Chooch Enterprises) was working there as a show writer, and producing a film on model railroading for Kalmbach Publishing, which featured a few of John's dioramas. John began with Disney as a model builder, and soon branched into production design and field art direction for the Disney Theme Parks. Katie, a Disney Scholarship winner, joined Disney shortly after John as a model painter and color designer. Together they have worked on too many Disney Theme Parks to name! Before joining Disney, John worked closely with folks like Tom Daniel, Leo Campbell, and Fred Hill, among other manufacturers and retailers. Also at time, John began publishing with Kalmbach, Carstens, Narrow Gauge Gazette, and of course the NMRA Bulletin. John will be sharing memories of those days. Given the fact that Walt Disney himself was a huge rail fan, trains are ever-present in the Disney vocabulary. Over the years there they have worked with several famous Disney characters, such as Ward Kimball (Grizzly Flats RR), Harper Goff (Great Locomotive Chase art director), Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston (private railroads in two locations), Carl Fallberg (Fiddletown and Copperopolis), and many more. The clinic takes us to the homes of the above folks and a pictorial visit to their railroads. John and Katie will also discuss the ever present thread of trains in the Disney theme parks. Katie has color designed many of the railroad stations and locomotives in several of the parks. It was during the early years at Walt Disney Imagineering that John built the Mescal Lines, Cielo Lumber Company, Jerome and Southwestern RR. Later he built (and Katie painted) the Ferrocarril de Tascosa and Calico. John will be sharing some images of his work, and discussing how building Disney theme parks is really similar to building a model railroad! |

The Vault of Walt
Jim Korkis has written a fabulous book entitled The Vault of Walt. The book is a collections of stories and information regarding a variety of topics Disney related. I was pleasantly surprised at how much information about Snow White I gathered from this book. In fact, there is an entire chapter dedicated to Snow White's Christmas Premiere. I have gathered many interesting facts to share This is one book that all Disney fans should read.

New Chocolate!
How could you not love it! It's mood cholate. On last night's trip to Disneyland I found these two boxes of candy at Marceline's Confectionery.
They also had a mousekeeter, monrail, and Pinochicco themed boxes. All are really quite fun. The are priced at 3.95 and show pictures of the contents on the side of the boxes. They are labled DisneyPark Authentic thus keeping up the Disney tradition of non-park specific merchandise.
Oh, and one little thing - Disney it is the Evil Queen on the box - not Maleficent as the cash register receipt indicates - honestly!

Character Days!
Looking through the family photos this is the first, and only, photo I have with a dwarf. (Yup, that's me, shaking hands, 1988ish). I seem to have lots with Snow White herself but only this one of a dwarf (and it is really bugging me I can't see the eyes well enough to tell who). Well, it may be time to capture another photo and it looks like now is the perfect time:
January 28 - 30 will be a Family Fun Day at the Disneyland Resort. After taking a Facebook poll, Disneyland is bringing out some of the favorite characters - including the seven dwarfs! Character Fan Days will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Festival Arena.
Well, I may be there all day waiting for my guys as the characters will rotate every half hour with different characters making appearances all day.

Happy Helping Hands
In this see-through storybook the dwarfs are off to do their chores: Doc wash the windows, Grumpy collect apples, Sneezy collect flowers, Dopey dig a well, and Sleepy clean out the chimney. Well Grumpy 'borrows' the ladder from Happy, Bashful and Doc play with Grumpy's basket, Sleepy takes a nap, Dopey creates a mess, and who thought it would be a good idea for Sneezy to pick flowers? Published in 1996.

Uh Oh, Dopey!
Poor Dopey and Grumpy wake up late and are left at the cottage - all the other dwarfs have already gone! In the rush to leave Dopey mayhem for Grumpy - It seems the better title would be Uh Oh, Grumpy! Of course all turns out fine and Snow White thanks Dopey and Grumpy for cleaning up the cottage.
The book is a board book with a rubber Dopey squeaker in the center. You squeak Dopey each time the book says "Uh Oh, Dopey!" (published 1994)
