Downtown Disney Snow White Merch

I went to Downtown Disney earlier this month and found a few fun Halloween treats and some cute merchandise.
This is why I went to Downtown Disney.  This year's Disney Visa card pin is an adorable Snow White dancing pin - it actually moves!

This extra thick lanyard with the evil queen is great!

This picture is hard to see, but the Dopey is adorable!

This was my favorite find of the day - I love the blue bird necklace!  I should have asked how much it was, but then it would have come home with me.

Love this graphic!  Did not love those sleeves.

It is so wonderful to see merchandise in the concept art style, but what is with the knot on the bottom? (yes, it's part of the design)

Again, I don't understand the lacing on the side...what happened to regular t-shirts?

Love this purse!  So fabulous!

The evil queen apple is back!

A poison apple, apple...not sure about this one.  May be to literal for me.

The apple cake pop is more my speed.

Disney Cruise To Nowhere

This October I was able to take the second to last Disney Cruise to Nowhere.  The ship left out of San Diego on a Friday morning and returned Sunday morning without making any ports.  Apparently the laws have changed and Disney Cruise will not be able to do this itinerary any more.

Overall we had a fantastic trip.  It was very short, but perfect for the first time cruisers who wanted to see what it was like.  This was my second time on the Disney Wonder (check out my finding Snow White on the Wonder post here) but wanted to share a few of my favorite things from our trip and a couple of new Snow White pictures.

It's hard to believe that the end of October is here!  If you are looking for some Snow White related ways to celebrate - be sure to check out the following:

* Carve a Snow White pumpkin with a template from Disney Family
* Download an Evil Queen wallpaper for your laptop, tablet, phone...from Disney Parks Blog (there are a few different ones including a new one for Disneyland's 60th)
* Put together a Villains party with lots of ideas from Disney Family
* Play a game of Dig for Apples
* Create some Evil Queen inspired Apple treats or cookies
* Make some paper projects: Evil Queen Mask, 3D queen, or Snow White's crown

Happy Halloween!

Last weekend I went the Descanso Gardens for The Rise of the Jack O Lanterns.  It was an amazing way to get into the Halloween spirit.  There were so many awesome sculptures and I was surprised by how many Disney themed pumpkins were there.  My camera isn't that fancy and it was hard to capture the details on the pumpkins, but enjoy!

Finding Snow White at Mickey''s Halloween Party

This October I made the trip to Disneyland to check out Mickey's Halloween Party.  I attended on a Tuesday night early in the month, so it wasn't too crowded.  I entered the park earlier in the day and checked in for the party at a mobile station in Frontierland.  There, I was given a wrist band and a trick or treat bag.  There were four things that happen that are special to the Halloween party:

Trick or Treating
All over the park there are trick or treat stations.  The locations have the traditional candy (brand names like Reeses, Kit Kat, Whoppers...) along with some healthier option (apples, raisins, dried fruit...)

Character Meet and Greets
The park map shows that all around the park there are characters. I did see Jack Skellington's location in New Orleans Square and the princesses in the small world plaza.  I couldn't find the villain's location though (didn't really look that hard).

Parade
Well, parade is not the correct work - on the map, it's a cavalcade - it's got a few floats, but mostly it just characters walking around.  Many of the characters are in costume - Stitch as James Dean and the Country Bears as Ballerinas.  The Princesses (Snow White, Belle, and Tianna) were not in costume.

Fireworks
This was the thing I was looking forward to the most.  I remember one year, they did Halloween themed fireworks that was for anyone in the park that day and it included lasers to the music of Space Mountain as well as Haunted Mansion segments.  Well, this was not the fireworks shown.  Don't get me wrong, they were fun, loved the zero flying across the sky.  However, it wasn't as impressive as I was hoping.

So, what Snow White related things are there?  Basically, nothing special.  You can meet Snow White. She is in her traditional outfit but standing in front of a Halloween backdrop.  I don't know if the queen or hag were characters.  The park map indicated that you can meet villains - but does not list who.  Snow White was in the parade - just walking but I suspect she may not always be.  It is just a princess segment that can have whichever princesses are available.  Finally, you can hear the magic mirror at the very start of the fireworks.  And that's it for Snow White.  I think the Queen and Hag get better placement in the advertising for Halloween time.

Overall, it was fun.  I really enjoyed the creative costumes you saw all around the park.  I think it's a great event to come to with your kids for trick or treating.  Plus most of the attractions are open and the lines on attractions are short - there is so much else to do, sometimes the line for candy was longer than the lines for attractions.  For more information click here.

Lasseter and Snow White

Pixar has posted their Halloween 2009 pictures on Facebook. One features John Lasseter talking to Snow White - hmmm... wonder what that conversation was about...

More Halloween Time at Disneyland

Finally made it to Disneyland early enough in the day to get a fast past to ride Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy. A spooky soundtrack combined with projections of ghosts made the attraction feel quite a bit faster. Fun concept.

We spent some time in the shops and found some 'new' merchandise. Main Street's Disneyana shop had the Snow White fountain - it is from a series where each princess is sitting by a fountain. Snow White's fountain is the wishing well. If I am remembering correctly, it was $75.

There also were a few figures from the Walt Disney Collectors Collection that I hadn't seen before. Snow White about to bite the apple (I don't remember the retail on that) and the Dwarfs on their way home ($999). The Dwarfs are all walking across the fallen log bridge with Dopey lagging behind. It was really quite the piece.

While they are not new, the Hag and Snow White bust by Grand Jester Studio were also in the World of Disney shop for $65 and $60 respectively.

There were two books in the stores that I hadn't seen. Windows on Main Street Discover the Real Stories of the Talented People Featured on the Windows of Main Street, USA by Chuck Snyder and Disneyland Challenge; $6.95 and $12.95 respectively. Both are published by Disney Editions with a D23 logo.

Disney Gift Card had one of the Evil Queen - same logo that is used on the Halloween logos. Not sure if a Hag was available or not. Driving home I spotted several of the billboards for the park that featured that same artwork. Glad to see the Queen and the Hag taking center stage.

Pumpkin Carving Time

Halloween is coming up soon and it's time to start planning what to carve our pumpkins as. I think this year my pumpkin will be Snow White of course. Check out the directions here from Disney Family.com.

Halloween Time at Disneyland

It's Halloween time at Disneyland Resort and I am proud to report that the Queen and Hag are a central part of the theme. The two banners pictured here are around the Downtown Disney area and are featured on the billboards around Southern California. Additionally, the ladies are also featured on the park maps - the Hag on Disneyland and the Queen on Disney's California Adventure.
I went last night to view the Halloween Spooktaular Firework Show. After a period of indecision (due to winds at higher elevations) the fireworks went off. Zero flies above the castle and the music features "This is Halloween," "What's This?" "Grim Grinning Ghosts," "Poor Unfortunate Souls," "Trust in Me," "Cruella De Ville," as well as music from Hook, Chernabog's Theme Song, and Frollo's song From Hunchback. All in all a very fun show - not scary - but just right theming for Disney. More to come about Halloween time.
