Disney World Snow White News

Disney Parks Blog announced that Artists Point at the Wilderness Lodge is scheduled to become a Snow White themed character meal this winter!  Guests will get to meet Snow White, Grumpy, Dopey and the Evil Queen.   While finding Snow White is not that hard in a Disney Park, finding the dwarfs is not easy and usually requires a special event.  This is a great opportunity for Snow White fans!  No word on actually dates yet, but be sure to keep an eye out!

Hallmark and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

July 14 and 15 marked the Christmas Ornament premiere weekend at Hallmark.  I went in to get one Grumpy and Dopey  ornament and was surprised to find they have two Snow White and the Seven Dwarf ornaments this year!  (Last year they had a precious moments ornament)

The Dopey and Grumpy in the mine cart plays Heigh Ho and the gems actually light up!  This ornament is so well done!  It retails at 22.99.

Hallmark also premiered a Snow White with her forest friends.  She is lovely and part of a high quality line that has a different style box.  The box is specifically marked to celebrate the 80th anniversary.  She retails at 29.99.

Disney Park Pin Pack

Shop Disney sells a monthly subscription box featuring Disney Pins.  The May 2018 edition featured Snow White pins.  Check it out here.

Snow White 80th Anniversary Funko Pops

Funko announced in August that they would be releasing a full set of Pops to celebrate Snow White's anniversary in 2017 - the big 80!

Funko has previously released some Pops of Snow White, Grumpy, and the Evil Queen:

Evil queen number 42 - from 2012.  There was also a Grumpy in this series (number 46).  Sadly I don't have this.

A miniature Evil Queen sold in a set with Ursula and Maleficent.  There was also a set of the evil queen and Snow and Snow and Grumpy.

The new series has all seven dwarfs plus a Grumpy variant and Dopey chase, two Snow White variants, and the Hag.  For those in the 'know'  a variant is a Pop that is available only at particular stores (Toys R Us, Books a Million, and Hot Topic in this case).  The chase is a tricky thing to land because it is randomly sent in boxes and stores don't know if they are going to get them.

The Toys R Us exclusive - I love this so much! I haven't found her...yet.

Christmas Merchandise alert!

Hallmark has released their holiday ornaments and an adorable Snow White and Dopey Precious Moments ornament is in the 2017 line up!

Getting Ready for the Holidays with the Disney Store

November has flown by and we are now well into December.  I have been putting up the tree this weekend and that got me to thinking about the fabulous Snow White ornaments available from Disney Store online (many of which are currently on sale).  Check them out:

Jakk Series 3 Blind Bag

I was so excited to come across the series 3 Tsum Tsum mystery stack pack because it included a Dopey stack!  Unfortunately it took me one Jasmine, 2 Luckys, and 3 Tinkerbells before I got the Dopey.  (beware when feeling the package, the Diamond is not on Dopey's back and is separate from him.  He comes in 3 separate pieces with no bumps on the Tsum).  However, I did get him!

Kmart Garden Items

I was walking around in Kmart the other day when I noticed this guy:

They had lots of other stickers for more Disney garden items on the shelves.  I've seen Grumpy garden items in the last few years, but I like seeing Dopey join the club.  I will keep checking my local store to see what other items they get in stock!

Feeling Dopey on May 22

Where will you be on May 22?  Sadly, I will be at work and not at the 24-hour event at the Disneyland Resort.  Truth be told, I find the whole idea of spending 24 hours in a theme park at more than a little frightening.  But then I saw this:

They Made the Magic: Eddie Collins

Happy birthday Eddie Collins!
Dopey is a beloved character whose silly antics instilled him in the hearts of the audience.  Animators were able to use live reference film of Eddie Collins to create those silly antics.  Although Dopey doesn't talk, Collins also made some sound bites for the character.  Walt Disney saw Collins in a Low Angeles Theatre. A veteran of vaudeville Collins continued his career into film with roles in Young Mr. Lincoln, The Blue Bird, and Drums Around the Mowhawk

Dopey: He Don't Talk None

Walt Disney's Dopey: He Don't Talk None! is a linen book published in 1938 by Whitman Publishing Co.  The story is a collection of Dopey's antics: Last to leave the mine, Dopey finds a lonely deer so he hooks the lantern on the deer's tail to give the creature light and then uses a red jewel (he just happens to have up his sleeve) as a tail light on his own belt. 
To avoid doing dishes Dopey plays with a pipe and soap bubbles, until Doc tells the men to grab him and put his to work, but again, Dopey runs off to play music. Well the dwarfs all dance and sing until Doc realizes that again Dopey has evaded work, and so as punishment: they all tickle him (of course, what other way would you do it?). 
Suddenly it appears that all the dwarfs have just become too tired so Dopey falls asleep with a bunny for a pillow.  That morning the birds wake Dopey up with (I kid you not) " Tweet-tweet-tweet! Bag of lazy bones! Get up!"
Well Dopey feels ashamed, leaps up and begins to use the feather duster on everything.  Including Sneezy.  Well you can see where that would lead - Dopey ends up in a tree.
This book is one of my favorites as the art is beautiful in it.  It is about 9 by 12 inches in size.

Pook-A-Looz

This film by Disney Living features the adorable Snow White and Dopey Pook-A-Looz.  (there is also a hidden character in the background. 

D23 Pins

The Disney Store online is selling two pins to celebrate Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and the studios history.  The box set celebrates the building on the studio lot that uses the dwarfs as pillars.  The other (an much more affordable option) features Dopey standing by the famous street sign added to the Disney Studio lot for the filming of the reluctant dragon.

Dopey He Don't Talk None!

Over the years I have collected Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs memoriablia.  Recently I was tasked with catoloing and organizing the collection.  While this process is still in progress I would like to share items from the collection.
The first item is a linen like book from 1938.  The book is 12 pages and printed by Whitman.  This great book is one of my favorite pieces.
