Book Review: 3500 An Autistic Boy's Ten-Year Romance with Snow White

Recently I read a book all about a boy named Ben: 3500 An Autistic Boy'sTen-Year Romance with Snow White.  Many fans of Snow White's Scary Adventures in Florida know about Ben, in fact, he can claim the title of being this former attractions biggest fan.  This autistic young man was the last person to ride Snow White's Scary Adventure before it closed forever, making a grand total of 3,500 trips.

The Disney fan community has been following Ben for some time.  Check out Filmic Light's posts about Ben (part 1, part 2, part 3, and part 4).   You can see Ben's final (well, final Public ride) on this Attractions Magazine post.

The book is a very honest look at what it has been like to be the father of a child with Autism.  Every case is different, every child different, and through this book, you really get to cheering for this family.  This heart warming story takes you through their daily life and the connection that was forged with others and the attraction.  It's a really great read written by Ben's father, who also maintains a blog: shmoolok.  It was one of those books, that I just wanted to keep reading, because I was rooting so much for Ben and was proud of the fan community and cast members for making sure this young man was the last one to ride.
