Disney Bound Style Snow White clothes

Earlier this year Disney released the Shop Disney Park App.  I've become a fan of shopping on the app.  They run free shipping specials often and it is great to get park merchandise without having to make the trip.  While recently browsing I saw these items to put together a great Disney bound style look.

I really like the items, but am not a fan of purchasing clothes on-line.  So I purchased the purse and the Snow White ears.  I was so excited to see official Snow White ears!  I have made my own (read about how here), but what could be better than Disney's?

The purse is great.  It is really cute and the the details are great.

The Shop Disney App did not state that the Snow White ears are actually children's sized.  In addition, it really is a baby blue and pink - not royal blue and red.  So overall, I'm very disappointed with them.

Packing for Disney World...Snow White Style

If you follow my blog, you know that I am planning a trip to Disney World soon.  I have shared my tips for planning and my Disney World planning binder.  Now onto the final stage....what does every Snow White fan need to pack for a Disney Theme Park trip?

Snow White makeup from ELF, Evil Queen from MAC, and chap stick too!  You must look your best for all those photographs!

The bag on the left is for theme park touring that I bought at a craft fair, the middle bag is to hold all that make-up, and the right bag by LoungeFly for my carry on and a trick or treat bag for the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Of course, there are a few other items that are needed to take on a Disney World trip that may not be Snow White related.  Here are a few of my must brings:

 * Cardboard mailer: I bring this to put any paper souvenirs (post cards, park maps...) in.  This way they don't get bent!

* External Battery Charger: I looooove mine!  Keep connected all day without having to find a recharge station.

* Pennies and quarters: for the machine!

* Power Strip: I got one that takes one plug and converts it into three plugs with addition usb slots.

* Glow Sticks: I love the old fashion glow sticks - they don't even sell this style anymore in parks.  At Walmart a pack of five bracelets is 97 cents!

*Tablet: besides the usual functions, I keep a master excel spreadsheet in Google Drive that lists my collection and photos of each item.  This becomes so helpful when I look at a souvenir and think...do I have that?  I find myself wondering that often about the postcards and small buttons in the theme parks.

Naturally there are the regular items to travel with too that you'd take on any trip.  The most important item?  The empty bag to bring home souvenirs in!

Getting Crafty: Snow White Inspired Minnie Mouse Ears

I love the Minnie Mouse ear hand bands sold at the Disney Theme parks.  I was thrilled when I saw there were some villain inspired ones, however, the evil queens ears (the apples on the wire) left a lot to be desired!  I so wanted to like them too.  I decided to try out my crafty-ness and make my own pair of Snow White inspired ears.  I spent a bunch of time watching videos and reading how-to articles, but most of them were for children (really?  Kids like these too? who knew!) and the ears were not like the plush versions you find in parks.  So I came up with my own version.  Here are my materials:

Here are the supplies needed: red and blue felt, yellow sequin ribbon, hot glue, thread (red and blue) and needle, foam sheet, fabric scissors, head bands (from Target) and batting (not shown).

And this is the process I used:

First, I came up with a concept sketch.  I wanted the headband itself to be yellow, but decided that that would no work well because the blue ears go around the headband.  So I changed that right away.  As you can see from the sketch, I meant the bow to be much smaller too.

Every template I tried was much smaller than I wanted (I am measuring against a pair of real Minnie ears.)

I ended up enlarging the template making a custom version.  I traced that and cut out two of blue felt

Next I stitched around the edges leaving a small area so I could stuff the ear. 

I turned the ear inside out and put in two foam circles.

I cut out four of these foam circles, two for each ear.

I put batting on both sides of the foam circles.

Next I cut felt that was twice as large as the thickest part of my hair band.  The felt sheets were not long enough to fit so I ended up using two pieces.

Wrap and glue the felt around and then trim-off excess felt

Next, slide ears into position and stitch the ears closed.

Time to start with the red - cut out two pieces of red for bow.

Cut a hole in the middle of the back and stitch around the entire bow

Turn bow right side out through the hole in the back

Make some gathering stitches and sew up the hole in the back (it will get covered - doesn't have to be pretty).  Cut some more felt to make a band in the middle of the bow.  I folded mine over to make it thicker and keep the edges pretty.

 I spent some time doodling the accents for the ears (inspired by Snow White's sleeves)

Cut four out - two for each ear, being sure to flip one of them backwards.

I used hot glue to attach the accents

I also hot glued the yellow sequin ribbon onto each side of the head band

And on the bow

 

Attach the bow by stitching it to the area you sewed close on the ears

And there it is...my finished product!

 I want to make a few changes in the next version.  I feel the bow is too big and I got the ears just a little off center, but otherwise, I'm ready to rock my Disney side!
